Shelby's Lake Shel-oole Campground and ballfield complex offer year round recreational opportunities. Located just 1/2 mile north of Shelby, fly fishing in the summer months and ice fishing in the winter. Ice skating, nature trails and hiking around the dam are popular things to do. The four ball fields are usually full of activity during the summer months with adult softball and little league baseball. There are also 46 campsites below the dam with clean showers and hot water. This name was formed from a combination of Shelby and Toole (the name of the county). The Roadrunner Recreation Trail runs adjacent to the campground and reservoir. The 5 mile asphalt trail provides great recreation and exercise as well as beautiful views of Shelby and the surrounding prairie lands.
