Shelby Quilter Authors Book

Posted October 3, 2010

Shelby, MT quilter Anne Wiens has accomplished what many people only dream about. She wrote and designed a book on quilting. Titled “The Thrifty Quilter” it shows how to make nearly free quilts from leftover fabric.

As Anne said, if you quilt, you have scraps. Lots of scraps. This book tells how to organize them using three simple (yes, she did say simple) pieces. She shows how to make 80 different blocks in two sizes with six setting options. I’m not a quilter (I said that several times at the Quilt Party in Valier!) but Anne’s book shows that you have hundreds of design possibilities. I visited sweetgrassdesigns.com and saw some of those possibilities and they are beautiful.

I’d say the author is right on with writing a book called The Thrifty Quilter. Not even considering current economic times, people simply like to put everything to good use.

Anne also had kits for the individual patterns she has designed and, of course, she had completed quilts too.

You just may want to tuck The Thrifty Quilter book away for a gift for your special quilter!
