About Cave Mountain Campground
Cave Mountain campground is located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains along the shore of the North Fork of the Teton River with some sites overlooking the river. The campground is at an elevation of 5,200 feet and offers 14 campsites to choose from in the main campground and 4 additional horse camping sites in th trailhead located above the campground. Campground was reconstructed in summer of 2012. Aspen and Fir provide shade for most of the sites. This is a nice little pack it in, pack it out campground with delightful views of the Sawtooth Range. Maximum trailer length is 35 feet. Handicap accessible toilets, pets allowed on a leash and water is available.
The sites are well separated providing some privacy. Just east of the campground is Nature Conservancy land and famed dinosaur, fossil rich Montana Badlands. Contact the Museum of the Rockies (406) 994-6618 for information. There are hitching rails and feed troughs at the Middle Fork of the Teton trail head. This is bear country; use safe food storage techniques. There is a camping limit of 14 days and a camping fee.
