The Russell is the premiere fundraising event for the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana, attracting artists, collectors, and patrons from around the country. The schedule of events and exhibitions culminates in Saturday’s auction featuring important pieces by Charles M. Russell and other historic artists as well as new work by the country’s most acclaimed contemporary western artists. The Russell, now recognized as one of the most prestigious western art events in the country, provides critical funding through commissions and premiums that directly support the museum’s educational programs and cultural outreach.
This exhibition and sale offers the opportunity for thousands of individuals (including students) to view quality art created by a large and varied group of nationally known artists. It enables the Russell Museum to become a more financially stable institution better able to carry out its mission. Western Art Week has been taking place in Great Falls, Montana, since 1969.
