Get Your Kicks at 6 - Erik “Fingers” Ray

The final Get Your Kicks at 6 concert of the 2024 season is set for Thursday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Choteau City Park band shell and will feature the music of solo performer Erik “Fingers” Ray.

The performance is free to the public and those planning to attend are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Public restrooms are available just across Spring Creek on the east side of the City Park, and the Pavilion will accommodate the concert if the weather is bad.

Farmers market, food and beverage vendors will be at the family-friendly event.

Erik “Fingers” Ray has purveyed his unique mix of blues, folk, country and Americana music for the past four decades throughout Montana, the Northwest and the East Coast. He represented New Hampshire, Maine and Boston at the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tennessee.

In a time of digitalized electronic gadgetry, Erik’s old-fashioned, no-nonsense approach to his music is refreshingly original. He truly plays four instruments simultaneously. Crowds watch in wonder as he pounds out the rhythm on a bass drum with his right foot while his left foot syncopates a snappy cadence on the high-hat cymbals. His right thumb walks a heavy bass line on the guitar while his fingers strum the melody. Strong vocals and a mean harmonica styling complete the full band sound.

Playing dance halls and concert venues usually occupied by four- and five-piece bands, Erik has built a solid reputation as one of Montana’s finest and most original musicians. His high-energy stage show and warm audience rapport are distinctively invigorating.
