Event Details

Take the River's Edge Trail from the North Shore to the South Shore of the Missouri (or vice versa) and hike or walk your bike across the dam! Cochrane Dam is not usually accessible and we are happy to be working with NorthWestern Energy to make it happen!

Cochrane Dam can be accessed via

Lewis and Clark Trailhead: 3.6 mi following the gravel road and then the moderate trails at Crooked Falls Overlook 3.5 mi following the moderate trails the entire way

Rainbow Trailhead: 2.5 mi on the gravel service road 3.7 mi on the River's Edge Trail The shortest hike is 5 miles please wear proper footwear and bring plenty of water! For more information contact the Giant Springs Ranger Station at 406-727-1212
