Seeing Stars?

First of all, I’m going to talk about an event I haven’t been to yet. Usually I write about where I’ve been but this one is too good to not give some advance notice to!

The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls will be the site of “Star Party Extravaganza 2012 – Mission to Mars” Friday, November 16.

Star “parties” are held periodically at the interpretive center but this one gives a special nod to the planet Mars.

Dubbed “An Evening of Mars and Stars” the event will cater to families. Gaze at the night sky with huge telescopes courtesy of the Central Montana Astronomy Society, hear noted astronomy expert Arthur Alt speak, build a Mars Rover and draw a Martian.

The night sky is getting dark earlier now so this event will begin at 6pm and run until 9pm. Admission is free but they are collecting donated non-perishable food for the Great Falls Food Bank.

If you have a budding astronomer in the family and your Montana vacation takes you to Great Falls this Friday, we just may meet up at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center.
