Relaxing Morning at the Rising Trout Cafe

Posted November 3, 2012

When I was in Lewistown, Montana a couple of weeks ago I wandered up Main Street and found another great coffee shop to add to my list of favorites.

As you enter The Rising Trout Cafe you experience a colorful atmosphere – deep red colored walls, paintings and beautiful photographs decorate the cafe and bookshelves offer some good reading while you sip your java.

To top it off, a comfy leather couch and chair are waiting for anyone who wants to be even more relaxed.

The last time I was at the Rising Trout it was very warm outside. I remember that I ordered their hibiscus mint lemonade. Oh yum, I can still taste those flavors!

The seasons have changed though and I was in the mood for a hot beverage – fresh roasted, fresh ground coffee was my choice for the day.

The Rising Trout roasts their own coffee beans and they even have a sign in the front door that says there may be some smoke evident from the roasting.

To go with my coffee I chose a blueberry scone. Now…I bake scones every now and then and, if I have to say so, they are good. So, the standard is high and The Rising Trout definitely exceeded my expectations on that scone.

In fact, I was tempted to order a scone to go and then, in came a regular customer and out the door went my “to-go” scone. OK, I didn’t need that second scone but I was planning on it.

Next time my Central Montana travels take me to Lewistown, I’m heading to the Rising Trout and I hope they have blueberry scones that day!
