Made In Montana Marketplace Opens

Posted March 25, 2011

This morning the Made In Montana Marketplace, held at the Great Falls Civic Center, opened their doors to wholesale buyers. I attended the opening ceremony where Lt. Governor John Bollinger, Great Falls Mayor Michael Winters, and several other dignitaries touted the success of small businesses in the state.

Nearly 100 vendor booths filled the Civic Center and what an amazing variety of Montana made goods they have. The brightest colored booth there had to have been Montana Mud clothing. I really liked the Montana Sweetgrass booth, owned by a Native American lady from Brady. Her display was pretty, inviting and educational. Randy Glick’s Pik Ka Designs covered two booth spaces and his knitted, felted and dyed products were irresistable. I already have one of his silk scarves that he wraps around rebar, then plunges into hot dye.

Food booths, gluten free flour (made from Timothy), chocolate, coffee, wine, huckleberry products…wow, I could have grazed through the entire Civic Center!

The marketplace is open to the general public tomorrow. It’s a great place to buy unique gifts, or maybe something for yourself!
