It’s A Holly Jolly Trolley Ride
Posted December 18, 2010
The other evening I decided to check out the Christmas luminaria tours done by Tour de Great Falls in their heated trolley. I wasn’t as organized as I should have been and I went to the wrong place to catch the 5:30 pm trolley. Note to self, read things a little closer! I called Carol Place who operates the trolley and she said there would be an 8pm luminaria tour later that night and I would find the trolley, decked out in holiday splendor, at the J C Penney entrance of Holiday Village Shopping Center.
A group of gals was boarding the trolley as I arrived for the 8pm tour and they were in fine spirits. After some heavy-duty shopping, it’s a great relief to climb aboard the trolley, sing Christmas carols (yes, you will), and see the many fine decorations put up in different Great Falls neighborhoods.
Carol canvasses residential areas and finds the most elaborate and unique decorations, charts a route and then lets passengers enjoy the fruits of her labors. Luminaria tours last approximately two hours. Cost is $20 per person and please bring along a non-perishable food item that can be donated.
Tours are reservation only and there are two each evening – 5:30pm and 8pm, both leaving from Holiday Village Mall. Proceeds from the luminaria tours benefit the Great Falls Community Food Bank and Great Falls Special Olympics.
For reservations call 406-771-1100, practice your caroling and get ready for a fun time aboard the Holly Jolly Trolley!
