Grizzlies, Good Food and Much More in Dupuyer
Posted July 31, 2008
Dupuyer, MT, located north of Choteau on US Hwy 89, hosts their annual Grizzly Day Saturday, August 2nd. You probably won’t see any grizzlies but Dupuyer is near prime habitat for these huge top-of-the-food-chain critters.
Activities throughout Grizzly Day include Hands of Harvest artisans displaying their work, horse drawn wagon rides, a great variety of food, children’s games, Dutch oven cooking demos, a horse handling clinic, greased pig calcutta and the always popular Great Dupuyer Duck Race.
The Fun Run starts at 7:30 AM, too early for me, but the parade at 11:00 AM is always a treat. Favorite foods served include “taco in a bag” followed by ice cream dessert which is a “scoop in Dup”. This community knows how to spend a day celebrating their heritage.
If you are looking for some charming, small town rural hospitality, head to Dupuyer’s Grizzly Day this Saturday.
