Chinook’s Christmas Parade of Lights
Posted November 28, 2011
The day after Thanksgiving sees a lot of communities kick off their Christmas festivities.
Chinook, located on US Hwy 2 in north central Montana, began the celebration last Friday with their annual Parade of Lights.
It’s more than a parade though.
Vendors were set up in several locations along Main Street (technically Indiana Street in Chinook). The parade started at 6pm when it was dark enough to see the lights glowing.
Weather prompted many revelers to search their closets for some warm weather gear. The temps weren’t that low but a crisp and brisk wind let everyone know that winter is just around the corner. Luckily, my Mom could see the parade from the car parked on Main Street.
We didn’t have snow in north central Montana – great news for those traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday – but that white stuff does add a festive touch to the Parade of Lights.
Chinook’s Parade of Lights makes me think it’s easy to find a generator in this rural community! I really like the lights on the harnesses for the team of horses.
