About Square Butte Ranch

We are located in the heart of beautiful Montana. If you plan a vacation with us, you will experience real ranch living. You will also be close to the many other attractions that Montana offers. Our home ranch offers over 7,000 acres, but you may be traveling to one of our other ranch locations, depending on how you structure your stay with us.

We want to show you how a real ranch is run and include you in our day-to-day activities. However, if you prefer, hikes and day trips can be taken at your leisure. The laccoliths (buttes) in this area offer endless scenery, hiking, wildlife viewing, and extraordinary sunrises and sunsets. One of the most famous, Square Butte, is located on our property. We are located approximately 40 miles from Great Falls, which offers an airport serviced by several major airlines. It is a western town with fine dining and shopping, as well as being the home of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center and the CM Russell Museum of Art. Another fun spot to visit is one of the state's largest buffalo jumps at the Ulm Pishkun.

We are excited to announce the purchase of additional ranch property near Miles City in Custer Country. This 20,000 acres will offer many of the same activities as our home place as well as more hunting possibilities. This ranch is also close to the well-known Custer Battlefield.

We offer a fully furnished ranch house with two bedrooms plus a queen hide-a-bed. We only book groups up to six with a minimum three-night stay. We offer three meals a day eaten with our family. If you prefer to do some of your own cooking, that can be arranged. Some folks like the privacy of a continental breakfast, and then take the other meals with us.

Horseback riding, trailing cattle, checking cattle on horseback, and general ranch chores are some of the things that you will participate in. Our ranch days are geared for those over 12 years of age, but special arrangements can be made by contacting us.

We offer clinics employing the natural horsemanship techniques taught by Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman, and other 'Horse Whisperers.?

It is possible to attend special events such as brandings, rodeos, cattle drives and barrel races.

We specialize in unique vacations geared to your interests.
