About Rusty Spur Guesthouse & Gallery
Rusty Spur Guesthouse is a cozy 2-bedroom house with a fully equipped kitchen including gas range, full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes and cooking utensils. It also has its own washer and dryer.
The house can accommodate 3-5 people with a double futon in the living room, a double bed in one bedroom, and a rollaway bed in the second bedroom. There is a modern bathroom with shower in the house or an outhouse outside for the more adventurous!
A collection of Western Art adorns the walls. All of the art is for sale and is all moderately priced for a wonderful Montana souvenir to take home!
Outside there are accommodations for traveling horses including pasture turnouts or run-in stalls with corral. There is also a 60X140 outdoor arena.
There are many outdoor activities to enjoy nearby, including big game and both upland and waterfowl hunting, fishing, horseback riding from the house or on any of the hundreds of miles of backcountry trails in the nearby Wilderness areas. There is free wireless Internet access and a cozy woodstove.
Located in a peaceful rural area surrounded by farm fields with open views of the Rocky Mountain Front to the west, the buttes, bluffs and Big Belt Mountains to the south, and the Highwood Mountains to the east. Sitting atop the 'Sunny Slope' 12 miles west of Fairfield, 50 miles WNW of Great Falls, 14 miles northeast of Augusta, and 15 miles south of Choteau.
Close to Freezeout Lake, a waterfowl preserve that is world renowned for bird hunting and watching. In the spring and fall from the guesthouse you can see literally thousands of swans, snow geese, and Canadian geese winging their way to and from the lake and resting in the nearby fields.
Also close to hundreds of miles of trails in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, Scapegoat Wilderness, Lewis and Clark National Forest, and on the way to Glacier National Park.
