Montana Shakespeare in the Parks celebrates its 54th season this year, continuing its tradition of bringing free, live theatre to communities across Montana and the region from June through September. Staged outdoors beneath open skies, these performances create welcoming spaces for audiences of all ages to come together and enjoy storytelling, connection, and shared cultural experiences.
The season showcases two of Shakespeare’s most beloved works - The Merchant of Venice and Much Ado About Nothing - with performances traveling to more than 60 towns across five states. Each stop offers a unique and memorable evening set against the sweeping beauty of Montana’s Big Sky.
This summer’s Much Ado About Nothing examines the joys and complications of love, the fragility of reputation, and the powerful influence of community perception. Set after a time of conflict, the play follows returning soldiers and their generous hosts as they become caught up in romance, playful trickery, and shifting understandings of one another. Through humor and heart, the story reveals how quickly we can be misled - and how honesty, resilience, and compassion can help restore trust and connection.
Directed by Johamy Morales.
Catch Much Ado About Nothing in Augusta at Sun Canyon Lodge on Tuesday, August 11 at 6:00 pm for a truly Montana setting.
