Five island mountain ranges surround the town of Moore, Montana. National forest land dots the area around Moore in the Big and Little Snowy, the Little Belt and the Highwood Mountains. Crystal Lake, twenty miles south of Moore in the Big Snowies, offers camping, hiking and nonmotorized recreation opportunities. West of Moore, Ackley Lake State Park offers visitors the opportunity to camp, boat and fish. The Judith River flows north of Moore and makes an excellent river for canoeing as it flows through deep, secluded canyons and breaks.
