Farmers Market – More Than Veggies
Posted August 22, 2012
OK, let’s set the record straight. I went to the Farmers Market in Great Falls tonight and I DID buy vegetables.
But, the Fudge Lady was there and well, you know the rest of the story!
This platter is what Alma Winberry, The Fudge Lady, calls fudge shooters. I didn’t sample them but gosh, they sure looked yummy.
And, what a colorful photo!
Farmers markets are held every Saturday morning in downtown Great Falls and also in Black Eagle. The downtown location also does a Wednesday afternoon market and I enjoy it a lot on my way home from dropping mail at the post office.
Several local Hutterite colonies also had their vegetable stands serving up a great variety of produce and some baked items.
I bought a couple kinds of squash from one of the colonies and almost bought a huge bag of green beans. I’ll get those next week when I have time to freeze them.
There are farmers markets throughout Central Montana during the summer months. Some produce is at its peak now so not only is it good, the price is right too.
I always encourage people to visit with the locals when they are here on their Montana vacation. What a better place to do that than at a farmers market.
