The Little Belts

White Sulphur Springs sits at the junction of Highways 89 and 12, surrounded by the Big Belt, Little Belt and Castle Mountains.

  • 1 Natural Hot Mineral Springs Pools - Open to the public (fee). (406) 547-3366.
  • 2 Castle Mansion and Museum - Stagecoach and buggy collection. Self-guided driving tour to view many Victorian-era houses in town. Open May - Sept. (fee). (406) 547-2324.
  • 3 Fort Logan Blockhouse - 18 miles west of White Sulphur Springs on Highway 360. Located on private land, open to the public (no fee).
  • 4 Arrowhead Meadows Golf Course - 9 holes. Open to the public. Beverage service, club and cart rentals. (406) 547-3993.
  • 5 Bair and Martinsdale Reservoirs - Highway 12, east from White Sulphur Springs. Fishing, boating, camping (no fee). Also visit the Charles M. Bair Family Museum one mile south of Martinsdale turn on Highway 12. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day (fee).
  • 6 Newlan Creek Reservoir - 6 miles north, then turn west for 2 miles. Camping, fishing, boating (no fee).
  • 7 Kings Hill Pass/Showdown Montana/SilverCrest - 30 miles north of White Sulphur Springs. Alpine ski area, groomed cross-country ski trails, over 200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Downhill ski rentals available.
  • 8 Porphyry Peak Lookout - 30 miles north of White Sulphur Springs on Forest Service road, 1 1/4 miles off the highway. Forest Service volunteer on duty July 1st through Labor Day (no fee).
  • 9 Kings Hill National Scenic Byway - 71 miles north from White Sulphur Springs to junction of Highways 89 and 87.
  • 10 Memorial Falls - 37 miles north of White Sulphur Springs on Highway 89; short, easy hike to beautiful falls.
  • 11 Belt Creek Forest Service Ranger Station - 45 miles north of White Sulphur Springs on Highway 89. Open year ’round.
