About Outdoor Memories Art Studio

Outdoor Memories is the art studio of Jim Utsler. Jim enjoys hiking through the splendor of the Rocky Mountains for much of his inspiration. Although the mountains represent a large portion of his work he uses all aspects of life to create his art. Jim draws on his 43 years of art experience to paint visual adventures, everything from the suspense of a Grizzly Bear overlooking his domain, to the excitement of Ruffed Grouse in an Aspen grove. Jim also focuses on depicting scenes and wildlife of the plains and foothills leading to the mountains. In order to represent the subjects in fine detail, with the respect they deserve, he studies the volumes of reference photographs he has taken. Working in oil, acrylic, and pencil, Jim strives to capture the realism of light and color in both his wildlife and scenic art. In turn, he provides us with paintings rich with warmth and charisma whether he is painting the smallest of animals or the immensity of Montana's Rocky Mountains.
