American Prairie is excited to announce the return of the ECO-Critters series at the National Discovery Center in Lewistown, in partnership with ZooMontana. On Saturday, April 12, from 10 AM to 4 PM, ZooMontana’s educational staff from Billings will bring live animals from around the world for the first of five scheduled visits in 2025.
Designed for anyone with an interest in Earth’s fascinating creatures, ECO-Critters is part of a series of free educational programs offered by the American Prairie National Discovery Center. While the specific animals for this event are yet to be announced, past animal ambassadors have included Wilbur the plains hognose snake, Roxy the western box turtle, Sally the tiger salamander, a Chilean rose hair tarantula, blue feigning death beetles, ball pythons, Madagascar cockroaches, “Scout” the screech owl, and many more.
During this free event, visitors can explore multiple interactive stations, learning about the animals' natural habitats and how they are cared for at the zoo. Guests are also invited to tour the National Discovery Center’s exhibits to discover more about prairie plants and wildlife. ZooMontana’s Education and Outreach team will be available to answer questions and engage with visitors as they handle the animals.
