Winnett Montana

Elevation: 2,975 Population: 206 County: Petroleum

If you're looking to escape people into the vast open prairies of Montana, Winnett may very well be the place for you. The town serves as county seat for the less than six hundred people who call Petroleum County home. Winnett has a couple of bars and a café well known for its mouth-watering pies and home cooking. The real draw of Petroleum County, however, is the land. Deer, elk and antelope abound in the fields around Winnett. In addition, the area offers good fishing at Petrolia and Yellow Water Reservoirs. Also, be sure to check out the James Kipp Recreation Area and the War Horse National Wildlife Refuge.
