About Stockett, Montana

Dozens of towns appeared and disappeared in Montana during the years when mining ruled the land. Stockett was one such boom town. The town moved twice, following the veins of rich coal in the Little Belt Mountains. North of Stockett lies Great Falls, Central Montana's largest city. If you travel south of Stockett, you climb deeper into the heart of the Little Belts and a section of the Lewis and Clark National Forest. Sluice Boxes State Park in the northernmost eight miles of the Belt Creek Canyon also lies to the south of town.
