Martinsdale Montana

Elevation: 4,799 Population: 42 County: Meagher

Its location just two miles off US Highway 12 between White Sulphur Springs and Harlowton makes Martinsdale easily accessible for travelers. Situated at the base of the Crazy, the Castle, and the Little Belt Mountains, Martinsdale makes an ideal entry point into Central Montana adventures. Martinsdale Reservoir and a series of smaller reservoirs to the west all offer ample fishing, boating, waterskiing and camping. The Musselshell River which flows past Martinsdale has consistently good fishing. Hunters can take advantage of the abundant deer and elk in the Crazies, Castles and Little Belts.

To orient yourself to the region, what better place to start than the Bair Family Museum? Located one mile south of US Hwy 12, the sprawling ranch house belonged to Charles Bair, one of the most successful sheep ranchers in the world, and one of Montana's wealthiest residents. The ranch house museum is open for guided tours and is full of turn of the century art and furniture. An adjacent museum building showcases Native American artwork, as well as originals by Charlie Russell and Joseph Henry Sharp.

After touring, head one mile further in to town for homemade food and award winning pie at the Crazy Mountain Inn.
