Looking For Art?

I stopped in to the Basin Trading Post in Stanford, Montana the other day.
It’s a great coffee and cinnamon roll stop (yes, I travel with my tummy in mind) and I was ready for some java and breakfast.
While the gal at the deli/cafe in the trading post was getting my order ready I wandered through the building.
The Basin Trading Post is a mini-mall on Stanford’s main street. As you walk in, the first businesses you see are the cafe and the Prairie Collection gift shop. If you wander into the middle of the building there are great historic photos of the area and the famous “White Wolf” who is mounted and displayed in a glass case.
I peeked in one room and noticed an artist working at her easel. And, I saw a lot of artwork in this little space.
Basin Gallery features work created by about ten area artists who have formed the Montana Midstate Art Society.
They can set up their works-in-progress in the gallery and work on them or they can just display their for-sale items.
Finding local art is what many folks on a Montana vacation are looking for. I was lucky and found this place because I was hungry! There was a great variety of art displayed and I thought the prices were reasonable.
Add this place to your bucket list if you are in Central Montana!
