About Monarch, Montana
Monarch, Montana is on US Highway 89 on the
King's Hill Scenic Byway. A few miles north of Neihart, on the edge of
Lewis and Clark National Forest land, Monarch is perfectly situated to take advantage of some of the premier recreational opportunities in Central Montana. To the south the Little Belt Mountains stand like an island between the
Smith River Valley and the
Judith River Basin. In the Little Belts visitors can hike, camp and mountain bike in the summer, hunt in the fall, downhill ski at
Showdown Ski Area or cross country ski and snowmobile in the
Silver Crest Trails Recreation area in the Winter. To the west,
Sluice Boxes State Park contains eight miles of canyons and cliffs along Belt Creek.
