Havre’s Farmers Market

If you are traveling to or through Havre on a Saturday in the summer, be sure to time your trip around their weekly SATURDAY market.

US Hwy 2 goes right through Havre and I’m usually driving it on the way to visit my Mom in Chinook. When you get to downtown Havre you can’t miss the SATURDAY farmer’s market.

Located in the Town Square, the market starts at 8am, ends at noon (or when things sell out).

You’ll find a variety of items for sale – fresh garden produce (more and more as gardens grow), fruit, baked goods, hand crafted jewelry, crafts, Native American beadwork, art and photography.

Here’s a fun story from last year’s market.

I stopped to buy some fresh green beans from a local Hutterite vendor. I figured I’d get one pound, enough for a few meals. They had packages with three pounds that were a much better price so I picked up one of those (yes, I’m frugal). When I started to pay, the young Hutterite super-salesman said they had a MUCH better deal than that. He pulled out a 10 pound bag of green beans. Needless to say, I was freezing green beans late at night the day I got home!

Here’s photo to tempt pie-lovers, or cookie-lovers. Just around the next table or two you might find a cinnamon roll so plan ahead!
