Beaver Creek Park Ready for Summer
Posted May 13, 2008
Beaver Creek Park, located 10 miles south of Havre, MT, is ready for summer recreation. New signs have been erected, existing signage has been painted and a nice dose of rain came this past weekend.
The park is a 10,000 acre strip along the north slopes of the Bear Paw Mountains, just south of US Hwy 2. Width of the park is about one mile and it straddles a well maintained, paved road for 17 miles. An amazing range of vegetation includes box elder, alder, willow and buffalo berry trees on the north end and cottonwood, aspen, ponderosa pine, lodge pole pine and douglas fir on the south end.
Water – you bet! Besides Beaver Creek, there is Bear Paw Lake, Rotary fish pond and Lower Beaver Creek Lake and they are usually well stocked with rainbow and brook trout, walleye and northern pike, bass and perch.
This lesser known park abounds with wildlife including many birdwatching opportunities. Stop by the park headquarters for a list of birds commonly found in the area and contribute your sightings.
Developed campsites and picnic sites are easily accessible. For reservations or other information about Beaver Creek Park call 406-395-4565.
