A Fisherman’s Paradise
Posted June 26, 2010
I was recently driving through Loma, MT on US Hwy 87. It’s a pretty small town with a restaurant and convenience store and now there are 2 cabins for overnight rental and 2 more are planned.
I stopped and toured the cabins with the owner, who sounds like an avid fisherman. He said these cabins were built by a fisherman, for fishermen! No kidding! The duplex-style cabins have a laundry facility between them. In the laundry area there is also a filet table, a vacuum sealer and a freezer for that catch of the day.
There are boot hangars outside each cabin door if you want to hang your waders to dry. Outside plug-ins come in handy for charging a motor and there is plenty of parking.
Loma is located near the confluence of the Marias and Missouri Rivers so the location is a natural draw for fishermen, also for fall bird hunters.
Cabin reservations are handled through Ma’s Cafe in Loma 406-739-4400 and when I was there both cabins were occupied. Sounds like it might be time to start on those next 2 cabins!
