High Line Heritage House Museum

The High Line Heritage House Museum warmly welcomes you to beautiful, historic Havre and Hill County, Montana! We invite you to take a step back in time and experience the grace of Victorian and Edwardian life during the late 19th and early 20th centuries on the Montana frontier. Havres reputation as a tough, lawless town is well known. What is not as well-known are the ladies and gentlemen who, despite Havres wild and woolly ways, worked to civilize the community and many of their accomplishments survive today. We tell the other side of the story on this tour. The John F. Mathews family was one such family who worked hard and helped build the largest city on Montanas Hi-Line. Our tour focuses on the Mathews family, their servants and boarders, as well as their professional and social connections, both respectable and nefarious. You will learn about their triumphs and tragedies in their circa 1898 Queen Anne home, as well as the current owners passions and dreams of restoring this work in progress museum to its former glory and preserve it for future generations.

The neighboring Boone/Dalrymple home is also included on our tour. You will visit the public rooms of this elegant, circa 1895 privately owned home and discover the exciting history of the Boone and Dalrymple families and how they worked to help Havre grow, prosper and progress.
