Come experience the streets beneath Havre as they come alive at our annual event Living History.
The Havre Beneath the Streets is a recreation of Havre's history. In the early 1900's a fire destroyed most of Havre, so business owners moved underground to carry on their business until the town could rebuild.
Step back in time, nearly 100 years, and participate in the underground mall event by shopping at the Gourley Brothers Bakery, swing by and grab a sample at the meat market, peer in the Sporting Eagle Saloon where you might just catch a hot game of poker in play and don't forget to grab your free ice cream and soda from the soda shop.
Join us as we weave in and out of the underground stores while they are brought to life.
In addition, head on up to the Buffalo Jump and take a walk back in history. The Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump is a one of a kind experience. This historical jump is the only one where you will view artifacts in their natural state. The Buffalo Jump tours will take place from 9am-4pm.
The H. Earl Clack Museum will bring history to life by recreating your heritage with hands on events. This hands on history event will be offered for Free from 1pm – 3 pm. The museum will be open its regular hours to tour from 11am-5pm. The H. Earl Clack Museum is also member of the “Dinosaur Trail”
Hi Line Heritage House Museum an Interesting Hill County Women History among the Headstones tours will be given Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Just meet at the Highland/Calvary cemetery on the hill. Should the weather not cooperate, I will be conducting tours of the High Line Heritage House Museum during normal hours: 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. all three days. Cost for these tours are $10.00 for adults; $5.00 for children 6-12 and under 5 are free with accompanying adult.
