Blaine County Museum will be hosting two historical lectures by Montana scholars this winter. The speakers have been sponsored by Humanities Montana. Lectures are free and open to the public!
On January 19th at Blaine County Museum, Austin Haney will be discussing the oftentimes overlooked history of Northern Montana in the time before statehood. From the first peoples to call the area home, to wandering traders, explorers, soldiers, and more, a colorful cast of characters shaped the story of the Hi-Line we know today.
On February 9th at Blaine County Library, Anthony Wood will be discussing his book Black Montana: Settler Colonialism and the Erosion of the Racial Frontier, 1877-1930, which was a 2022 Stubbendieck Great Plains Distinguished Book Prize Finalist.
