Virgelle - Central Montana

For years, Virgelle has been a unique vacation destination. Virgelle provides recreation, shopping and accommodation right in the middle of the scenic Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument. The Virgelle Mercantile and B&B offers beautifully refurbished rooms above a one-of-a-kind antique store. Or, for the more adventurous reserve one of several authentic century-old homestead cabins complete with kerosene lamps and wood burning stoves (as well as modern full sized beds). An overnight stay in Virgelle is the perfect complement to a canoe or kayak trip down the Wild & Scenic Missouri. While in Virgelle be sure to take a ride on the Virgelle Ferry. This free river ferry is one of only three still in use in Montana and has operated since 1913. The Ferry and the nearby Coal Banks Landing recreation site serve as popular starting points for adventures on the Missouri.
