Although often overshadowed by Montana's many famous fly fishing streams, the Sun River offers incredibly good fishing as it makes its way through wild and rugged terrain from the Rocky Mountain Front to Great Falls. Along the way it flows through the town of Sun River. Sun River, the town, is one of the oldest settlements in Montana. For years it served as a crossing point for stages and pack trains heading from Fort Benton to the gold fields of western Montana. Today the town provides access to the wild beauty of the Sun River and good fly fishing.
