We Celebrate Tourism

Tourism and recreation are huge contributors to Montana’s economy. They are ranked as the second leading industry in the state.

Sometimes we get so busy we forget to really celebrate or call attention to the benefits of the industry. I’ve often said, we certainly would not enjoy the level of air service we have if it wasn’t for tourism.

Even Montana residents enjoy the benefits of more beautiful man-made attractions – just think of all of our fabulous museums. They wouldn’t survive without the nonresident visitors brought to the area.

Today, during National Tourism Week, we stood up and touted the benefits of tourism. A gathering organized by the owner of the Great Falls Historic Trolley took place at the Great Falls Visitor Information Center.

Officials touted the dollars generated for the community by a clean industry. This photo shows Sue Ferrin from Downtown Great Falls leading a cheer for tourism! Way to go Sue! We do appreciate all of those who travel to the area, spend their money, then head back home.

Tourism ripples through so many sectors of the economy. Many people just think of lodging getting benefits. Well, visitors eat, buy gas for their vehicles, purchase souvenirs, rent vehicles…and the list goes on.

So, we welcome all visitors to the area with open arms! If we see our beauty as they view it we’ll all appreciate where we live a little bit more.
