From Main Street in Geraldine, turn west onto Kingsbury Road, then left onto Geyser Road for four miles to parking area southeast of Kingsbury Lake.
Cliffs, prairie, shallow marsh that vanishes with low rainfall, make up little-known 3,733 acre Kingsbury Lake Waterfowl Production Area at the foot of the Highwood Mountains. Grassland birds join raptors and, on migration, shorebirds. Watch for rattlesnakes. No fee.
Native grassland, marsh, cliffs, shrubby coulees.
